Phase One of the government's 'Homes for Ukraine' scheme launched on 18 March 2022, enabling Ukrainians who have a named sponsor in the UK to start the visa application process. New details about the scheme are emerging every day, so please check this page regularly for updates.
The scheme requires UK hosts who are able to offer accommodation for a minimum of 6 months to 'match' with individuals or families fleeing Ukraine. At CRRN, we do not offer a 'matching' platform and we advise hosts against 'matching' via informal channels, such as social media, and to register via platforms set up by certified NGOs or charities. However, we accept that 'matching' is happening across social media due to the urgency of the situation, and encourage individuals to take the necessary steps to protect their own identity and verify the identity of others.
If you are interested in hosting, but you haven't done so already, you can follow these steps to get started:

If you are interested in hosting, but you haven't done so already, you can follow these steps to get started:
- Think seriously about whether hosting is for you and if you are truly able to offer the accommodation, time and support required to successfully sponsor someone, as this represents a significant commitment, with a number of financial, logistical, practical and emotional considerations attached. City of Sanctuary has compiled a useful list of things to think about here.
- If you are confident you want to and are able to host, register your interest on the Homes for Ukraine government portal to receive further updates and information.
- Apply to be 'matched' via a platform hosted by a certified non-governmental or charitable organisation, such as RESET Communities and Refugees.
- Familiarise yourself with the visa application process that has to be completed in order for Ukrainian nationals to come to the UK through the Homes for Ukraine scheme - this can be completed by either the host sponsor or the Ukrainian applicant.
